What do you guys think of adding extra brackets to the trophy list ?

eg; TOP VB - VE is from GM factory = sedans, wagons, utes including calais,berlina,ss ect

TOP HDT /BROCK to include VC series, VH series, VK series, and VL series to include AEROS, DIRECTORS,GROUP A , sedans and wagons = 4 extra awards

TOP HSV to include VN series, VP series, VR series, VS series, VT series, VX series, VY series, VZ series, VE series to include WALKINSHAW, SV, MANTA, CLUBSPORT, GTS, XU, GROUP A, SENATOR, AEROS in sedan, wagon or ute = 9 extra awards

TOP CSV to include STRADA, VOLANTE, MONDO, VELOCE (as not many of these exist) = no extra awards (didnt have any entered last year)

keeps the guys with non hsv/hdt happy not competing against them, some entrants feel hard done by. Keeps it fair I guess, a VN calais up against a VN GROUP A is it really fair ?

considering the amount of HDT/HSV expected this year, its only an extra 13 trophies, one or two extra sponsors.

oh have I forgotten any other HDT/HSV models ????????????

Ok forgot about the HDT VN Areo will add TOP HDT VN Series, are there any around ? (thought it was built by HSV ? )
The STATESMANS I didnt want to split into models as its a commodore day but what about adding TOP HSV STATESMAN probally should add TOP HSV UTE and TOP HSV CREWMAN also ? (did HSV make any ? ) also TOP HSV WAGON/VAN and TOP HDT WAGON/VAN ?

I thought HDT stopped at VN series ?? (ive been know to be wrong before)

Yeah guys, they made VS aeros and Magnums. And HDT did vt, vx and vy. take a look at rarecommodores.com.au there is a ute on there, vu i think. And HDT are still going and still modding cars. They just released an upgrade for the VE.

The old HDT website had all the infor on all models from vc-current, but unfrotunatly as HDT changed hands early this year / late last year, the site has been changed and isnt up yet. However, apparently when it is back up it will have the info on all the models.

heres what I have found so far........

HDT Special Vehicles was a Holden-backed 'hot-up' division founded in 1980 by Peter Brock. Kicking off the line-up was the 1980 VC HDT, complete with flared guards, different wheels, lowered Bilstein suspension and a bit of engine work. Flowing on from the VC was a string of Commodores - the VH Group 1, 2 and 3, ADP Pack, SL/E, HDT Improved, VK SS, SS Group 3, SS Group A, SL Group A, ADP Pack, Calais Director, Berlina and SL, VL Group A and Plus Pack, Sport and LE, Aero, Group 3, Corsa, Director and the Signature Series. There was also one non-Commodore product thrown in - the WB Magnum (which was based on a Statesman).

In 1988, however, things went very sour between HDT (namely, Peter Brock) and Holden. For a number of reasons - most notably the notorious 'polariser' - the partnership dissolved and the HDT name was sold to one Mr Joe Collorafi. Relocating from Melbourne to Sydney, Joe kept up the HDT parts and information supply and released the Series 2 VL Aero, Magnum ute and the Sport. Joe kept things running until the VR era.

In 1994, Len and Sid took up the reins and ensured new versions of the established HDT models - the Aero, Magnum and Sport - were developed for each Commodore model up to present. The VX Aero Signature is their latest release

Have also put in there 4 weeks ago a TOP 10 OVERALL (in no particular order) the best 10 Commodores entered on the day, with the highest judges scores on the day ???

Something like Best GM Factory Original (non-HDT/HSV), or am I the only one into this stuff ?
Probably wouldn't work for the newer types as you wouldn't want someone who'd just picked up their new VE from the dealer to clean up, but maybe VB-VL, VN-VS etc. or just Pre-1990 maybe.
The reason I state non-HDT/HSV is that it's in their interest to keep their cars stock for value and collectability, not so much the standard cars.

One of the shows over East had Best Stock and Best Modified for each model, but that makes for a stupidly long trophy list. I'm not really into the "everyone gets a trophy to make them feel all warm and fuzzy" thing but there are an increasing number of stock collectors popping up these days, with very nice cars.

Oh, and "Furtherest Travelled" should read either Farthest or Furthest.

Sorry guys. I worded that badly.

Rather than "Factory Original" or "Stock" what I was trying to say was there maybe room for something like Best Unrestored for cars that are still wearing original paint, interior and trim but have survived the ravages of time well thanks to their owners. They'd have the odd chip, scrape and faded bits here and there but are ones you'd really stop and appreciate if you saw them on the road. They'd never be in the hunt for a best model outright but they're in almost too good an original nick to want to touch them. It'd be a bit hard for something like that to be judged in a class next to a highly modified car with a 15K paint job is all.

Just an idea, and may attract a different crowd who usually aren't into the car scene, like the old bloke who washes his car every Sunday since they day he bought it 30 years ago for instance.

Oh, and both mine have been repainted so that counts them out by the way.

Agree with you in part Craig, but we would have to start trophy presentation a bit before lunch to get through them all.
There is a BEST DAILY DRIVE award which would cover all the above mentioned but that covers all models not each model catagory.
A BEST UNRESTORED award could be added but not for each early model catagory would just take too long to get through, I will look into a sponsored " TOP UNRESTORED" catagory.

Best Daily Driver would be flexible enough to suit I'd reckon, and if more (any ? ) of the old originals showed up this year then things could be adjusted for next year. They're a minority I know.
